It’s been just over a week since Hollywood (and the world) lost a true legendary icon. Adam West was best known for playing the role of Batman on the 1960’s TV series so naturally, it was only fitting that after his passing, he received a true superhero tribute. The city of Los Angeles displayed the Bat-Signal over the city in his honor last week.
It was a truly epic way to say goodbye to the superhero icon however, with West’s career spanning over the course of six decades, of course, he will also be known for may other roles as well. Probably most notable, aside from his iconic portrayal of Batman, would his his vocal work for the Fox series Family Guy.
West was responsible for voicing the quirky Mayor of Quohog, appropriately named Mayor Adam West. Mayor West was basically a hilariously outlandish version of himself and became a series regular in 2000.
Upon learning of his passing, Family Guy creator Seth MacFarlane expressed his devastation and shock through a lengthy tweet which reads
“Family Guy has lost its mayor, and I have lost a friend. Adam West was a joy to work with, and the kind of guy you always wanted to be around. His positivity, good nature, and sense of fun were undeniable, and it was always a big jolt of the best kind of energy when he walked in to record the show. He knew comedy, and he knew humanity.
I am beyond fortunate to have had the privilege of working with him, and he will be profoundly missed by all of us. Thank you from the bottom of my heart for all that you have given, Mr. Mayor. You’re irreplaceable.”

On this past Sunday’s episode of Family Guy, Macfarlane and all those involved with the show paid tribute to West once again by dedicating the episode in his honor. Instead of running a new episode, they aired a rerun from this current season titled The Dating Game during which West’s character was featured. Before the show aired, the below tribute was run.
Adam West will truly be missed by the entire pop culture world but will always be remembered for his iconic roles and amazing persona. Rest in peace, Adam West.
