Does This Explain Hawkeye’s Absence in ‘Avengers: Infinity War’ Promo?

While we’re just now getting to the height of Avengers: Infinity War promo, fans do have some questions about what’s been missing so far. When we say ‘what’s been missing’ we mean the complete lack of Hawkeye.

We’re not just referencing the trailer or tv spots either, there is no new merch for fans of the hero and he didn’t make the EW cover either. That being said, there is a new trailer dropping tomorrow and still a lot of room for promo, especially from Disney, so we still have chances to see him.

In a recent interview with Collider, Joe and Anthony Russo mentioned what Hawkeye is up against in Infinity War. It suddenly made sense that everything Hawkeye has been scarce at best.

Joe Russo said coming out of Civil War, he was sort of put on his own journey.

Coming out of Civil War, he’s in the same position that Cap and Falcon are at the end of that movie. And Ant-Man. And coming into this movie you know … the characters on Cap’s side coming out of the Civil War, some made certain decisions and others made other decisions that led to different paths in them dealing with oversight in this movie in a different way. So Hawkeye’s on his own journey in this movie.

Anthony followed up by saying that his reaction to everything that happened in the film led to him being in a different spot for Infinity War.

Yeah. He has a unique reaction to the civil war situation that puts him in a special spot in this film.

If he’s on a journey different from the other heroes, it makes sense that they’d want to keep that more private. Especially because, from the sounds of it, we’re thinking he may have internalized a bit more than the other heroes. Will his journey lead to a deeper sense of self-discovery which allows him to become a stronger member of the team, or will it push him away completely?

Only time will tell. Avengers: Infinity War hits theaters on April 27th.
