A new era of the Doctor Who franchise is about to begin and now, it has a new logo too.

During the summer of last year, it was announced that the current reigning Doctor Peter Capaldi would be leaving and the first female Doctor, played by Jodie Whittaker, would be taking over the Tardis. While this announcement was met with controversy and mixed reactions from fans, fellow Doctor Who alum John Barrowman and even Capaldi himself have sung their praises of Whittaker and the fact that a woman will be taking on the role.
Fans got their first introduction, albeit a brief one, to Whittaker in the role late last year when BBC America released a 5-minute clip showing Capaldi’s departure and Whittaker’s regeneration scene. As the first woman Doctor, she uttered two now iconic words, “Oh, brilliant.”
We can’t wait to see more from Whittaker when the new season of Doctor Who premieres later this year. The new season is expected sometime in the fall.
