Chris Rock Will Star in ‘Fargo’ Season 4

Resident funnyman Chris Rock is putting on his drama hat as he is set to star in the upcoming fourth season of FX’s anthology series Fargo. Last year at FX’s panel during the Television Critics Association summer press tour, the network announced that Fargo creator Noah Hawley was busy making Legion and hadn’t approached them about the season 4, but it looks like he’s finally been able to make some time.

Season 4 will be taking place in 1950, Kansas City, Missouri and will find Rock as the head of a crime family. According to Deadlineseason 4 will dive into an intricate plot of family and race as it follows the “crossroads and collisions of two migrations, Italians coming from Italy and African Americans fleeing the south to escape Jim Crow, both fighting for a piece of the American dream as two controlling crime syndicates. They are at an uneasy peace controlling an alternate economy of exploitation, graft, and drugs. To cement their peace, the heads of both families have traded their eldest sons.”

So, Rock will be surrendering his eldest son to his enemy while in turn having to raise his son’s enemy as his own. Things are going well enough until “the head of the Kansas City mafia goes into the hospital for routine surgery and dies.  And everything changes.”

Fargo has won six Emmy awards from a total of 52 nominations, including Oustanding Miniseries is 2014. It also has won two Golden Globe Awards, including Best Miniseries in 2015 and Best Performance by an Actor in a miniseries for Billy Bob Thorton. Chris Rock has also received his fair share of award love with four Emmy awards for his comedy in addition to three Grammy awards. He recently teamed back up with his Grown Ups co-star Adam Sandler for the Netflix original movie The Week Of and has also guest-starred on Empire, Broad City, and Kevin Can Wait. On the horizon, Rock will star alongside Justin Timberlake in Spinning Gold, a biopic revolving around Casablanca Records co-founder Neil Bogart.

Nathan Hawley will once again helm the series and it’s set to begin production next Fall.
