‘Blindspot’ Actor Luke Mitchell Joins ‘The Code’ in Pilot Recasting
CBS’ new upcoming drama The Code has undergone some recasting and Blindspot alum Luke Mitchell will now be stepping into the lead role, replacing Dave Annable, who played the role in the pilot.
The high-concept series comes from Limitless’ Craig Sweeny and follows “the military’s brightest minds as they take on our country’s toughest challenges – inside the courtroom and out – where each attorney is trained as a prosecutor, a defense lawyer, an investigator – and a Marine.” The pilot was written by Sweeny and Craig Turk and will be directed by Mark Webb.
Mitchell will be playing Capt. John “Abe” Abraham. According to Deadline, Abe is “operating out of Judge Advocate General Headquarters in Quantico and is a driven prosecutor for whom becoming a Marine is a longstanding family tradition and a responsibility he treats with devotion and passion.” He joins a cast that already consists of Anna Wood, Ato Essandoh, Phillipa Soo and Raffi Barsoumian. Mira Sorvino also appeared in the pilot as a character who was intended to be recast, but that character is no longer a series regular.
Mitchell is certainly no stranger to television. He starred on Australia soap opera Home and Away as Romeo Smith from 2009-2013 before booking a leading role on The CW’s The Tomorrow People, which only ran for one season. After that, he scored a recurring role on ABC’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D as Lincoln Campbell and then appeared on Blindspot for seasons two and three.
The Code is currently slated for a midseason premiere on the CBS schedule and will executive produced by Sweeny, Webb, Carl Beverly and Sarah Timberman.
Having studied Media & Writing at James Madison University, I always knew that I wanted to do some type of creative writing, but being able to write about zombies, Starks, and superheroes on a daily basis for Fan Fest is my actual dream. While I probably shouldn’t be as proud as I am to be so similar to Nick Miller, I do hope to one day write my own “Pepperwood Chronicles’.
