That’s right, wrestling fans! Variety has reported that there is an Andre The Giant film currently in the works from Lion Forge Comics and producers, Scott Steindorff and Dylan Russell (Jane Got A Gun and The Lincoln Lawyer).
The film will be based on the authorized biography of Andre “The Giant” Roussimoff which was published last year titled, Andre the Giant: Closer to Heaven.
“As a lifelong wrestling fan, I can say with conviction that no one was bigger than Andre. His presence and charisma were so powerful, and you could tell there was much more to him under the surface of his ring persona. It’s been an amazing experience telling that story in the book with Robin’s help. With all the spectacle, action, and emotion there on the page, a feature film just made perfect sense,” said Lion Forge CEO David Steward II.
In addition to being a beloved wrestler, Andre The Giant was most well known for his role in The Princess Bride as Fezzik along with Wallace Shawn and Mandy Patinkin.
Daughter, Robin Christensen-Roussimoff said, “I’m really excited to watch this story come to life on the big screen. It’s been a labor of love for everyone involved, and we’re really looking forward to making it available to a larger audience.”
No word yet on casting or a release date but, we are VERY excited for his wonderful story to be told.
Are you excited to see Andre The Giant’s epic life come to the big screen?
