We are just days away from the release of Paramount Picture’s Transformers: The Last Knight, and we could not be more excited. One sad fact that we will have to face, however, is that this will be Michael Bay’s last ‘hurrah’ in regards to the franchise. Bay has headed up the Transformers series since the beginning, and they certainly have left quite the impression on us.
This upcoming film, the fifth installment as a matter of fact, looks as though it will hold much promise. Not only are we excited to see some historical tie-ins, but we will be seeing the return of some of our favorite Autobots (and Decepticons too, yes!).
Here are 5 things that we HOPE will happen in the Transformers: The Last Knight.
1. Bumble Bee Gets His Voice Back
Yes we get it, we’ve known since the very first movie that Bumble Bee voice is… well, not to be too cliché, but on the fritz. Since he crashed onto Planet Earth, he’s been using his radio to communicate. Sure, it is kind of cool to hear a bunch of different voices coming out of the yellow camero, but for those of us who have been longtime fans of the Transformers since the animated days…. Give him his voice already!
It shouldn’t take 5 years to fix a radio, right?
2. Optimus Prime Breaks Bad
For those who have seen the trailers, you are well aware of the fact that Optimus Prime is… well, not himself. Multiple clips and spotlights have shown Optimus about to deliver a fatal blow to his longtime friend and comrade, Bumble Bee. One thing we are seriously hoping for is that the movie doesn’t end with Optimus still being diabolically evil. Hopefully, Optimus breaks free of his bindings and his fellow Autobots figure out a way to rescue their leader. I mean, he’s only the face of the Transformers franchise.
Also, when he comes back to the ‘Good’ side… could he still live? I don’t know about anyone else, but I sure am tired of seeing Optimus die.
3. A MAJOR Megatron vs Optimus Showdown
I know that I cannot be the only one who is still angry at the fact that way back in Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen, Megatron killed the leader of the Autobots. Sure, he was brought back to life but that is completely besides the point. I agree, that Megatron is an absolute necessity in the movies. So the fact that they keep bringing him back to life isn’t what bothers me. All of the final showdowns between the pair have been super quick, but this is one I would like to see drawn out. When has there ever been a point and time in history (entertainment or real life) when I show-down between two epic bosses lasted lest than 40 seconds? Come on Bay, give us a fight!!
Especially since we know how much Michael Bay loves his robot wars and his explosions, so if there is one fight you want to use up all those explosions on, please let it be this one.
4. The Introduction of Unicron
Everyone has been questioning what exactly has been going on with Optimus Prime? One popular theory is that Optimus’ “possession” is by Unicron, an arch-nemesis of his twin brother Primus. His villainous pillage in life is consume just about everything and anything, drawing power from eating stars, planets and other celestial bodies. While there have been no photos or videos to directly verify this theory, it is something that Transformers fans everywhere are hoping for.
5. A Proper Balance of Showing and Telling: No Major Plot Holes!
A common error in the Transformers movie is that there are always a significant amount of plot holes. Don’t even get me started on the 800 or so plot holes in Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen. Given that this movie is going to have a lot of history involved, I’m hoping that the writing staff really covered their bases with this one.
Given the fact that this movie is close to 3 hours long, I’m hoping that they took the time to hammer out the details. I mean, 3 hours is a lot of screen time.
What do you hope to see in Transformers: The Last Knight?
The fifth installment in the series will roll into theaters on June 21, 2017.
