Shhhhhh. Listen closely. The Walking Dead has officially been renewed for a 10th season at AMC.
The incredible news was officially announced via the show’s social media pages with an eerie Whisperers-themed video. Check out the tweet below simply captioned, “Listen closely.”

A tenth season was heavily speculated and all but guaranteed. According to recent interviews with showrunner Angela Kang, the next season was even already being planned, however, the news wasn’t official until Monday afternoon. The upcoming tenth season will be the first full season without the series’ star Andrew Lincoln, though it’s possible that he may be returning behind the cameras to direct.
Next weekend, the series returns for its second half of season nine after introducing one of the most intriguing and terrifying villainous groups yet, The Whisperers. The synopsis for the second half of season nine teases “disturbing and terrifying” trouble ahead as we dive deeper into their world. Check out the synopsis for season 9b below.
The Walking Dead returns on February 10th on AMC. You can also watch the midseason premiere episode right now on AMC’s streaming service, AMC Premiere. Season 10 of the series will premiere in October of 2019.
