‘Mayans MC’ Introduces Taza as Club Vice President

FX/Twitter

When it came to Sons of Anarchy, fans spent a lot of time following the duties of the Son’s Vice President, seeing that the show’s main character Jax Teller (Charlie Hunnam) held the prominent title. For Mayans MC, howeverthings are going to be a little different as the series will be following EZ Reyes, a young prospect for the Mayans, but that doesn’t mean the club’s second in command won’t be a pivotal character. Keeping with their recent tradition, the Mayans MC’s Twitter account introduced Raoul Max Trujillo as Mayans VP, Che “Taza” Romero. Check it out below!

Much like Club President Bishop is cousins with Mayans Oakland chapter President Marcus Alvarez (Son’s alum Emilio Rivera), Taza will also share a connection with the familiar face and is a founding club member. He’s described as “a longtime friend of Alvarez who helped set up the Santo Padre chapter on the border. He’s hardened by the deterioration of his hometown, but an infinite source of wisdom to the club.”

Trujillo joins a long list of supporting characters the series has been slowly introducing as the September 4th premiere date quickly approaches. So far we’ve met, Michael Irby who will be playing Mayans MC President Obispo “Bishop” Losa, Clayton Cardenas’ who will be playing EZ’s brother Angel ReyesEmily, EZ’s childhood sweetheart, and Richard Cabral who will be playing Coco, a former Army sharpshooter and weapons specialist.

Raoul Trujillo will surely look familiar to fans of the Sicario films, where he played Rafael in both 2015’s original film and this past year’s sequel. He will soon appear alongside Liam Neeson in the action drama Hard Powder, which follows a snowplow driver who seeks revenge against the drug dealer he thinks killed his son. He has also received a Critics’ Choice nomination for Best Supporting Actor thanks to his turn in the National Geographic miniseries Saints & Strangers.

Created once again by Kurt Sutter, Mayans MC will also star Law & Order: SVU alum Danny Pinto, Edward James Olmos, Carla Baratta, and Antonio Jaramillo.
