New ‘Mayans MC’ Teaser Introduces Richard Cabral as Coco

FX

Mayans MC continues to take these last couple of weeks leading up to the series premiere to introduce curious fans to more and more characters they’re going to meet in the upcoming Sons of Anarchy spin-off. First, we were given a look at Michael Irby who will be playing Mayans MC President Obispo “Bishop” Losa, then we met Clayton Cardenas’ character Angel Reyes, brother to the series’ main character EZ Reyes (JD Pardo), and earlier this week we met Emily, EZ’s childhood sweetheart.

Now, we’re getting our first introduction to Mayans MC member Coco, who will be played by Richard Cabral. The quick teaser clip, which finds Coco looking down at the ground, offers up the hint that “his actions speak louder than words.” Check that out below!

Coco is a full patched member of the Mayans MC and a former Army sharpshooter and weapons specialist. Cabral shared a photo of him training for the role early last year after his casting was announced, something Cabral said was his favorite part of his character prep.

“Definitely, the sharpshooting, because I’m working with active LAPD SWAT and active-duty Marines and former Marines. So they walk different, they talk different. It’s a whole different ballgame over there. Really that’s been the most challenging. But I absolutely love it, for me to really be getting into my character, Coco, and to be really bringing this military aspect to the role and to the world,” he told Yahoo last year.

Looking back at Sons of Anarchy, the supporting members of the MC such as Chibs, Juice, and Tig quickly became some of the show’s most dynamic and entertaining characters to watch, so it will be fun to see what role Coco plays in the club! FX recently shared a behind the scenes look at Cabral on set, which you can check out below as well.

Set a couple of years after the events of Sons of Anarchy’s series finale, Mayans MC will follow EZ Reyes as he leaves prison and begins prospecting for the Mayans MC motorcycle club. Created once again by Kurt Sutter the series will also star Law & Order: SVU alum Danny Pinto, Emilio Rivera, Edward James Olmos, and Antonio Jaramillo.

Mayans FX premieres on September 4th on FX!

Having studied Media & Writing at James Madison University, I always knew that I wanted to do some type of creative writing, but being able to write about zombies, Starks, and superheroes on a daily basis for Fan Fest is my actual dream. While I probably shouldn't be as proud as I am to be so similar to Nick Miller, I do hope to one day write my own "Pepperwood Chronicles'.
