Netflix’s New Comedy Series Will Star Paul Rudd and…Paul Rudd
The world is saved! Netflix has just ordered to series a new show starring the charming and hilarious Paul Rudd in which he will play opposite himself. Yes, you read that correctly. The comedy, titled Living With Yourself, will feature not one, but two Paul Rudds and I think the fact that this will exist at all already deems it worthy of an award.
According to the official logline from Netflix, Living With Yourself stars Rudd “as a man struggling with his life who undergoes a novel treatment to become a better person, and finds he’s been replaced by a new and improved version — revealing that his own worst enemy is himself.” Rudd seems like the perfect man to lead the fresh and inventive philosophical comedy that asks: do we really want to be better?
The series was created and executive produced by Emmy and Peabody Award-winner Timothy Greenberg (The Daily Show with Jon Stewart) and will be directed by Little Miss Sunshine directors Jonathan Dayton and Valerie Faris. It received an eight-episode order and no other casting aside from Paul Rudd and Paul Rudd has been announced.
Living With Yourself marks Rudd’s return to Netflix programming as he previously starred in the streaming giant’s revival of Wet Hot American Summer. On the big screen, Rudd has been killing it in Marvel’s superhero world as Scott Lang/Ant-Man. He most recently appeared in Ant-Man and the Wasp, which has grossed over $430 million at the global box office, and will be reprising his role in the upcoming Avengers 4 next year.
Rudd is one of the many Hollywood movie stars making their way to Netflix Original Programming. Acadamy Award-Winner Emma Stone and Academy Award nominee Jonah Hill have teamed up for a trippy pharmaceutical comedy called Maniac, and Rudd’s fellow Marvel bud Anthony Mackie will be starring in season 2 of Altered Carbon.
What are your first thoughts on Living By Myself? Are you excited to see two Paul Rudds or is that just me?
Having studied Media & Writing at James Madison University, I always knew that I wanted to do some type of creative writing, but being able to write about zombies, Starks, and superheroes on a daily basis for Fan Fest is my actual dream. While I probably shouldn’t be as proud as I am to be so similar to Nick Miller, I do hope to one day write my own “Pepperwood Chronicles’.
