The legendary and incomparable Jessica Lange is making her triumphant return to the world of American Horror Story in the upcoming eighth season. Long-time American Horror Story star Sarah Paulson broke the news during Friday’s Television Critics Association press tour for Fox and FX.
Paulson went on to further explain that Lange will be returning for a guest role in the in Episode 6, an episode which Paulson herself is going to direct! Lange will be reprising her character, Constance, from the anthology’s first season, Murder House.
Lange certainly is no stranger to American Horror Story. In addition to starring in the show’s first season, she continued to star in the series for three seasons after. Lange departed the show after the fourth season which was Freak Show and she hasn’t returned, not even for a cameo, since.
The upcoming eighth season will be the crossover event which American Horror Story fans have been wanting. The season, titled Apocalypse, will combine the show’s first season, Murder House and the show’s third season, Coven which has opened the doors for many familiar faces and characters to return. In addition to Lange and Paulson, other confirmed cast members include Evan Peters, Kathy Bates, and Emma Roberts.
Recently, American Horror Story creator Ryan Murphy teased that fans should expect to see even more familiar faces in this upcoming season and that the eighth season is something fans have never seen before from the likes of the American Horror Story crew. He said:
American Horror Story: Apocalypse will premiere on September 12th on FX.
