Friday proved to be a super exciting day for Stars Wars fans as cast details for the upcoming final installment Star Wars: Episode IX were finally revealed!
The last film in the Skywalker saga will begin filming next week in London’s Pinewood Studios with returning cast members Daisy Ridley, Adam Driver, John Boyega, Oscar Isaac, Lupita Nyong’o, Domhnall Gleeson, Kelly Marie Tran, Joonas Suotamo, and Billie Lourd. Additionally, Naomi Ackie and Richard E. Grant will be joining the cast along with iconic veteran Star Wars actors Mark Hamill, Anthony Daniels, and Billy Dee Williams. Williams will be reprising his original role as Lando Calrissian in the upcoming film.
The casting noticeably leaves out actress Keri Russell. Earlier this month, news broke that Russell was in talks for an action-heavy role in the film
In addition to the outstanding talent already mentioned, direct J.J. Abrams has confirmed that the late Carrie Fisher will also be a part of Star Wars: Episode IX. Using previously unreleased footage from Star Wars: The Force Awakens, Fisher will once again play the role of Leia Organa.

At this time, any additional details regarding the film’s plot or its storyline have not been disclosed.
J.J. Abrams returns to direct and also co-wrote the screenplay along with Chris Terrio. Star Wars veteran composer John Williams will return to score the final installment as well.
Star Wars: Episode IX is currently set to be released in December 2019.
