We are Loving the Frontrunners for Goose’s Son in ‘Top Gun 2’
We’re heading into the danger zone today to talk about the upcoming sequel for Top Gun – Top Gun: Maverick.
The sequel finds Maverick as an instructor at The Top Gun Naval Fighter Weapons School where he attended as a cocky hotshot back in the original 1986 film. Obviously, Tom Cruise is on board.
And so is the Iceman, Val Kilmer.
But our hearts are still hurting all these years later that Maverick’s best friend and wingman Goose will not be in the film, seeing that his character died in the first film. 🙁
However, if you recall, Goose was married to Meg Ryan’s character Carole and they had a young son together who we met in the original movie.
Well, it turns out that Goose’s son, Bradley, is going to be all grown up and flying jets in Maverick rather than playing with them.
The film’s producers including Cruise, Jerry Bruckheimer, and Skydance’s David Ellison have been testing actors for the coveted role for several weeks now and have apparently narrowed it down to their top 3 choices! For reference here is Nick “Goose” Bradshaw, played by Anthony Edwards in the film. Let’s check them out!
Paramount Pictures1. Miles Teller
Teller has starred in 2015’s Fantastic Four, The Divergent franchise, as well as a standout role in 2014’s Whiplash. He’s shown that he’s got the acting chops for both serious and action, which makes him a great fit for the role.
2. Glen Powell
Powell most recently starred in the recent Netflix film Set It Up and also had a prominent role as astronaut John Glenn in Hidden Figures. TV fans may recognize him from Fox’s Scream Queens. Powell certainly has the look for a Top Gun movie, the dude can pull off a pair of aviators. Plus, with the recent success of Set It Up, he’s fresh on everyone’s minds!
3. Nicholas Hoult
Hoult is most known for his role as Beast in the X-Men movies. He also starred in Mad Max: Fury Road and Warm Bodies. Based on Hoult’s previous performances, he would be able to bring the emotional backbone that playing Bradley would require with ease.
If we had to pick who we think would be the best pick, it would have to be Glen Powell! We don’t really know what kind of guy Bradley grew up to be but Powell’s been able to master a variety of different characters with ease. Plus, like we said earlier – the dude can pull off some aviators.
Who would be your top pick?

Having studied Media & Writing at James Madison University, I always knew that I wanted to do some type of creative writing, but being able to write about zombies, Starks, and superheroes on a daily basis for Fan Fest is my actual dream. While I probably shouldn’t be as proud as I am to be so similar to Nick Miller, I do hope to one day write my own “Pepperwood Chronicles’.
