Christian Bale was in Talks for Role in ‘Solo: A Star Wars Story’

Can you picture Christian Bale in a Star Wars movie? Well, it was a possibility for some time and if Christian himself has anything to say about it, it’s not a possibility to write off just yet.

During Happy, Sad, Confused – Josh Horrowitz’s podcast, Christian discussed almost getting the role in a Star Wars movie. Collider broke down what that conversation meant and how it happened.

Solo: A Star Wars Story is the film in question and he said the idea was very tempting. As for the role? It would have been as Hans Solo’s mentor, who has since been cast as Woody Harrelson.

‘Yes, it was very tempting. I not only love the films going back to my childhood but also have a very long relationship with Kathleen Kennedy and Frank Marshall because they did Empire of the Sun many years back. There was discussion and I hope there will be future discussions.’

He went on to talk about the personal connection he has with the film as well, and how that relates to his daughter. As parents, there are always those moments where your child comes face to face with something you ‘geek out’ about and seeing them love it as much as you, it’s indescribable.

Star Wars I’m a huge fan. Yeah Star Wars really interests me. I’ve still got the Millennium Falcon, I’ve got the AT-AT. My daughter, her first love was Darth Vader. She absolutely adored Darth Maul. She stood near him at Disneyland and he growled and he’s got those teeth and he stayed in character, really wonderful performance, and she was teeny and I thought, ‘This is gonna scare the crap out of her, this is such a bad idea.’ And then she stopped and she said, ‘Daddy, I’m in love.’

While Bale never elaborated on why he wasn’t cast in the film, we hope that discussion continues. We can totally see him taking on a Star Wars movie, and doing it justice.
