‘Arrow’: Gail Simone wants to write a ‘Canary’ Episode

It is always amazing when DC Comic legends want to take a part in bringing their creations to life, as it definitely gives a little something to the character. Legendary DC Comics writer Gail Simone, known for her work on the Birds of Prey series, recently tweeted that she would love to get involved in some show work herself.

Her recent tweet expressed her interesting in writing an episode of Arrow, particularly one that focuses on Black Canary.

Simone has mentioned writing for Arrow in the past, and she recently brought the idea up again when tweeting a reply to a fan who asked if she would be open to writing for the show in general.

This tweet shouldn’t come as a surprise, as Black Canary was one of the characters that Simone used for her legendary run on the Birds of Prey series.

It would be interesting to see Simone join up with the writing staff of Arrow, for sure. We have seen three different canaries over the course of the hit CW series so one would have to wonder what storyline she would have in mind, or for which character. We’ve got Dinah Drake who is the new Black Canary on Team Arrow, Black Siren who is the Earth-2 evil Laurel Lance and then we have Sara Lance over on DC’s Legends of Tomorrow as White Canary (but made her debut as ‘The Canary’ on Arrow during the shows Second Season).

Currently, there are no current plans to have Simone join the writing staff but we are certainly a fan of the idea.

Arrow airs November 16th, at 9PM/EST on The CW.
