Supergirl Adds Jesse Rath as Brainiac 5
It was announced yesterday that Jesse Rath (Defiance, No Tomorrow) has been cast as Braniac 5, a member of the Legion Super-Heroes. Not only does Brainiac 5 have ties to the Legion, he has also served as a love interest for Kara, which co-showrunner Andrew Kreisberg has already teased.
“Someone down the road will like Kara a lot, which will be a lot of fun.”
The Legion of Super-Heroes hails from the 31st century and come to National City in order to help Supergirl take on Reign. They will arrive in the season’s 10th episode, entitled ‘Legion of Super-Heroes.’ Other members of the organization include Mon-El aka Lar Grand/Valor and Saturn Girl (who will be played by Amy Jackson). Could Mon-El potentially be leading the team back in time in order to save National City from Reign? That would definitely be an interesting twist. But that would also make things incredibly complicated if he’s back and Brainiac 5 is crushing on Kara.
In regards to the inclusion of the Legion this season, Kreisberg says that they have been hinting at an appearance since Season 1 when one of their rings is found in the Fortress of Solitude. He adds that Kara is facing her toughest adversary and will need all the help she can get.
“The Legion will be playing a big part in that.”
Supergirl airs Monday nights on The CW.
