CW Releases First Look at Odette Annable as Reign
Since her first appearance in the Season 3 premier of Supergirl, fans have wondered when Samantha Arias (played by Odette Annable) would suit up as the main antagonist, Reign. It was revealed before the season even began that Reign would be a different sort of villain. We would actually get to see her become a supervillain, something that hasn’t yet been done in the Arrowverse. Part of the wait is finally over as The CW released a promotional photo earlier today showing Annable as a fully-realized Reign.
The main part of the suit seems to have the same texture as Supergirl’s suit, which is a nice touch. The armor pieces on her arms, shoulders, and legs are pretty cool and add a different dynamic to the suit. The face-piece is reminiscent of a crown, which is appropriate for a villain named Reign. The shield on her chest has the same shape as the Supers’, but instead, there is a distorted skull in the middle (possibly a homage to the people that sent her away from Krypton?). Also, since she has a cape, does that mean that we will see flight in her future?
Overall, I’m pretty excited to watch Sam become the Worldkiller Reign, though I know that something tragic is going to have to happen to her in order to make it a reality.
Supergirl airs Monday nights on The CW.
