‘Gilmore Girls’ Creators Sign Massive Amazon Deal
Where Amy Sherman-Palladino leads, Gilmore Girls fans will follow…hopefully. At least that’s what she and her husband Daniel are hoping for as they just signed a massive multiyear development deal with Amazon.
The TV duo is currently serving as executive producers on the new Amazon series The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel, which follows a 1950’s housewife who discovers a love and a talent for stand-up comedy. The pilot is already available on Amazon Prime and the show was picked up for a historic two seasons for the streaming site. The deal also gives the Palladinos the opportunity to develop multiple new projects for the site.
“Amy and Dan are brilliant. Everything they create has such an incredible vision behind it. On top of that, they’re wonderfully funny and smart people. Also, Amy has the best hats in show business. We’re excited about the next two seasons of The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel with them and, with this deal, we can’t wait to do a lot more together.” – Joe Lewis, head of comedy, Drama, and VR for Amazon Studios.
While many fans were hoping that a new season of Gilmore Girls: A Year in the Life would be the next project on the Palladino’s plate, it appears they are going to have to wait a little bit longer. While Amy was a little more vocal on the series not doing any more seasons, Daniel was there to give fans a little hope when speaking to Vulture last year.
“Nothing’s been discussed. This was kind of set as a one-off thing, but we would never have anticipated that we were going to do this up until a couple of years ago when it occurred to us. So we never say never. It wasn’t designed to go beyond this, but it certainly can go beyond this.”

Having studied Media & Writing at James Madison University, I always knew that I wanted to do some type of creative writing, but being able to write about zombies, Starks, and superheroes on a daily basis for Fan Fest is my actual dream. While I probably shouldn’t be as proud as I am to be so similar to Nick Miller, I do hope to one day write my own “Pepperwood Chronicles’.
