Geena Davis Wants to Play an Amazonian in ‘Wonder Woman’ Sequel

Geena Davis is an Oscar-winning actress best known for playing strong female characters such as in Thema and Louise or  A League of Their Own.  For over 10 years now, Davis has been an advocate for female taking on stronger, more prominent roles in films.  Davis has said she has her sights set on one particular female-led film that’s in the works.

During a recent interview with Variety, Davis spoke about the importance of gender equality in film and television and how she hopes that female leads continue to take the industry by storm.  She has been a part of numerous action films such as The Long Kiss Goodnight and  Cutthroat Island and the interviewer couldn’t pass up the opportunity to ask her how she felt about the recent surge or powerful women in film.  When asked if she feels that she was responsible for helping to inspire kick-ass female led films such as Atomic Blonde or Wonder Woman, Davis had the perfect response.

“I would never claim credit for those movies. Certainly, Wonder Woman needed to be made, and I’m so beyond thrilled with how it came out. I met Patty Jenkins and I told her, ‘I’m sure you’re going to make a sequel and if you need anybody Amazonian, there’s always me. I’m available.’ I loved it, and I want to do more of those films. My dream goal would be to have a streaming show where I could be a badass.”

Can this please happen?  If you ask us, we think Geena Davis would make a totally awesome Amazonian Warrior in Wonder Woman 2!

Though it came as no surprise to fans, the Wonder Woman sequel was officially announced during San Diego Comic-Con’s Warner Bros. Panel.  Patty Jenkins is said to be in final talks for a monumental deal the studio to return as director of the film which is expected to be released in some times in December 2019.
