You’ve Seen ‘Black Lightning’, Now Here’s Your First Look at Thunder

Where’s there’s lightning, there’s thunder. We are fast approaching The CW’s winter premiere of its latest superhero show Black Lightning starring Cress Williams as Jefferson Pierce and now we have our latest look at the metahuman family.

The CW just released a first look photo at Anissa Pierce, Jefferson’s daughter, dressed as her alter-ego Thunder. Just like her dad, Anissa also fights for justice and safety in her town.

Black Lightning follows a retired superhero named Jefferson Pierce who found a normal life as a high school principal until the local gang begins targeting his daughter, forcing him to put back on the suit.

However, Jefferson will struggle with the fact that his daughters also carry the metahuman gene as they start to get their powers.

“It’s hard for any parent to see their children grow out of the nest. That’s how Jefferson will react to seeing his daughters get their powers. In a way, he’ll be a little fearful, because he understands what having powers is and what it means. The same way when parents see their children go off into the world without them, they’re a little fearful because they understand what the world has in store for them. But you can’t stop that. You have to let them grow,” Executive Producer Salim Akil told EW.

While Black Lightning won’t play a part in the current Arrowverse people and critics are already excited for it, making it one of the most promising shows of the winter season.  Will you be watching? Be sure to tune in when it premieres on Tuesday, Jan. 16 at 9 p.m. on The CW.
