Yondu: Michael Rooker Willing to Sign On for Disney+ Series Focusing on Guardians of the Galaxy Character

Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy introduced the world to Yondu, who was played by Michael Rooker. In a recent interview while promoting his new film, Love And Monsters, Rooker was asked about returning to the role for a Disney+ spin-off series.  The Mama’s Geeky interview covered a lot, but there’s some parts that Yondu fans will be really excited to hear.

“I will sign onto anything. I’m out of work right now. So bring it on, baby, bring it on [laughs],” said Rooker about returning as Yondu.

“I’ll sign onto anything. I love the [character]. I really, really, truly enjoyed playing Yondu,” he continued.  “And of course, of course [I would return as Yondu].”

Yondu’s departure from the MCU in the second Guardian’s film was one of the most touching and heartbreaking moments.  His famous line, too, “I’m Mary Poppins, y’all,” because a pop-cultural phrase and phenomenon.

Recently, in another interview with ComicBook.com this week, Rooker said:

“I don’t know how they could do it, but of course it’s possible. Anything’s possible in the Marvel universe, you know, there’s time traveling and all that kind of stuff. So yeah, of course it’s possible. But will they be able to afford me? I don’t know. At Marvel, they don’t have a lot of money you know, it’s really tough out there!”

Disney+ continues to build its Marvel lineup with new shows and teasing more shows. Any Yondu story would have to follow him, along with the Ravengers.  What is fascinating about all of this is the potential to follow a young and growing Star Lord!  That would be something fantastic to see!
