On Sunday, the Duttons made their MTV Video Music Awards return in a way that seemed to indicate that more tension lies ahead for Season 5’s premiere of Yellowstone.
“We’ll show the world who we are and what we do,” John Dutton, played by Kevin Costner, says during the short teaser.
Season 5 of Yellowstone promises to bring viewers answers to questions they’ve had since the beginning while also raising new ones. There are glimpses of a fierce Beth Dutton, as well as a distraught Kacey Dutton. Additionally, Cole Hauser is back and ready to take care of business on the ranch.
The fans will have to wait until November for the new season, but those involved with the series have set the stakes quite high. Costner talked about his love for the show with ET back in June and noted what drew him to the series.
“When I found Yellowstone, it hadn’t been made,” Costner said. “I liked the story, I thought we could do this, so, the idea that it’s good, that doesn’t surprise me at all. The idea that it blew up, that’s something you can’t always predict.”

Although Yellowstone hasn’t received as many awards as fans would have hoped, it is still one of the most successful TV series. With a lot of other shows coming to an end, such as Better Call Saul, there is ample opportunity for Yellowstone to make a big impression with its story.
“I never know,”Grimes also spoke to ET about Season 5. “I kind of like it that way, but even if I didn’t, I don’t think [Yellowstone creator] Taylor Sheridan would tell me what’s happening next. I literally know nothing about it.”
Sheridan has stumbled upon a group of series at Paramount that have made him very successful, including Yellowstone and its spinoffs. At the VMAs, not only was there a teaser for Yellowstone, but also a trailer for Sheridan’s Tulsa King starring Sylvester Stallone. This is just one of the latest new series from Sheridan while he also produces spinoffs from Yellowstone like 1923 with Harrison Ford and Helen Mirren, as well as 6666 – a contemporary spinoff centering on a Texas ranch featured in Season 4.
On November 13, 2022, Yellowstone season 5 will premiere on Paramount Network, debuting before Tulsa King. Seasons 1-4 of the series are currently available to stream on Peacock Premium if you want to catch up.
