The trailer for, what looks to be Fox’s last X-men movie, Dark Phoenix has arrived online and I have to say I am incredibly impressed. Considering the underwhelming response to Apocalypse and the Disney takeover, I think a lot of fans were put off by the idea of Dark Phoenix. After watching the latest trailer, I can honestly say I am rather excited.
You can check out the awesome trailer below.
The official X-men Twitter page also released this new poster.

Dark Phoenix sees the return of Sophie Turner as Jean Grey, James McAvoy as Charles Xavier, Michael Fassbender as Magneto, Jennifer Lawrence as Mystique, as well as returning members like Tye Sheridan, Alexander Shipp, Kodi Smit-Mcphee, Evan Peters.
Joining the X-Men is Jessica Chastain. All that is known so far is that her character goes by the name “Smith”. It has also been revealed that her character is a shapeshifter which was led fans to speculate that she is a Skrull. It seems more likely that she is a member of the Shi’ar Empire who first appeared in X-Men #97 in 1976, although Chastain has denied these rumors.
When talking to Jimmy Fallon on The Tonight Show, Chastain said:
“I play this character from another world, and I come to Earth because miss Jean Grey has a power I want to harness for my own uses.”
The official synopsis of the new X-men film reads as follows:
In X-MEN: DARK PHOENIX, the X-Men face their most formidable and powerful foe: one of their own, Jean Grey. During a rescue mission in space, Jean is nearly killed when she is hit by a mysterious cosmic force. Once she returns home, this force not only makes her infinitely more powerful, but far more unstable. Wrestling with this entity inside her, Jean unleashes her powers in ways she can neither comprehend nor contain. With Jean spiraling out of control, and hurting the ones she loves most, she begins to unravel the very fabric that holds the X-Men together. Now, with this family falling apart, they must find a way to unite — not only to save Jean’s soul, but to save our very planet from aliens who wish to weaponize this force and rule the galaxy.
X-Men: Dark Phoenix is set to be released on the 7th June 2019. What did you think of the latest trailer? Let us know in the comments below.
