“Is It Worth Free?” Xbox’s April Games With Gold

Published on April 1st, 2019 | Updated on March 31st, 2019 | By FanFest

Hey Xboxers! We have a fun April ahead with Games With Gold, and you my dear friends need to know whether or they are worth the humongous price… of free. Fear not! We are going to take our in depth look right below!

(DISCLAIMER: Games With Gold are only available to Xbox Live Gold subscribers)

  • Technomancer (Xbox One, April 1-30)

So, as someone who sells video games, I can tell you I regularly talk people out of this one. The biggest complaint I have heard about the game is that it was not technically sound (kind of funny given it’s named Technomancer). The story is pretty decent, it can even be fun. But it may be decent at best for free. Weirdly enough the Metacritic score varies ridiculously between the platforms.

Is It Worth Free? – Ehhhhhhhhhh

Metacritic Score – 68

  • Outcast: Second Contact (Xbox One, April 15-May 15)

The biggest downside to this has nothing to do with the game. Once a innovator in the open world genre, Outcast simply has not aged well. While this may be a great nostalgia trip for fans of the series, it does not add anything that might attract newcomers. The issue there is that we may never see the series again due to a lack of interest.

Is It Worth Free? – To the right person

Metacritic Score – 67

  • Star Wars: Battlefront II (Original Xbox, April 1-15)

This one is a no brainer on if you should grab it. The follow up to the first ever Battlefront game, Star Wars: Battlefront II is a cult classic. Not only was it a ton of fun to play by yourself, but the multiplayer… such an experience. The way you could jump into a ship, fly across space and into the opposing teams hangar to fight them in space battles was a huge selling point and one I am surprised was not replicated in the most recent releases of Battlefront. Star power was also added in the form of heroes from each side, like Darth Maul or Obi-Wan. Star Wars fans will be pleased with this one, and possibly even more than that.

Is It Worth Free? – I don’t even have to use the Force to convince you on this one

Metacritic Score – 83

  • Ghost Recon: Advanced Warfighter 2 (Xbox 360, April 16-April 30)

This is a tough one. So far it may be one of the highest Metacritic scores we have gone over. But unfortunately age is not always kind to the video game medium. In rewatching old footage of the game, it is clear that while it may been one of the “games of it’s generation” the shine has worn off. If you are looking for a well made military shooter give it a try, but I would just go and buy Tom Clancy’s Ghost Recon Wildlands and play that instead.

Is It Worth Free? – For nostalgia purposes

Metacritic Score – 90
