Woody Harrelson’s commencement of the “Saturday Night Live” show, alluding to the current pandemic and how medical personnel and government entities are working together to administer vaccines has stirred up fierce debate online. Even Twitter CEO Elon Musk weighed in on this ongoing dialogue.
Closing out the segment, Harrelson talks about a film pitch that included one of the “craziest script” he’s read, which included the “biggest drug cartels” forcing people to remain in their homes unless they agreed to take and keep taking their drugs.
“So the movie goes like this,” the actor explained. “The biggest drug cartels in the world get together and buy up all the media and all the politicians and force all the people in the world to stay locked in their homes. And people can only come out if they take the cartel’s drugs and keep taking them over and over.”
Harrelson then joked: “I threw the script away. I mean, who was going to believe that crazy idea? Being forced to do drugs? I do that voluntarily all day.”
At Matthew McConaughey’s daughter’s birthday celebration, his ‘Uncle’ Woody Harrelson hilariously photobombed the precious moments!
The comments were widely covered by media outlets, who called them “anti-vax” or “vax conspiracies.”
The conversation on social media quickly intensified, with many users in agreement with the actor’s perspective; then Musk stepped into the discussion.
“So based. Nice work,” Musk responded.
Musk expressed his agreement with a tweet, acknowledging that the sentiments shared in it accurately depicted life over the past few years in America.
So based. Nice work @nbcsnl!

When one Twitter user warned for people to “get ready for the meltdowns,” Musk said: “Maybe they [media outlets] don’t realize that their propaganda is wrong?”

On Saturday, Musk posted a message on Twitter citing a Babylon Bee report that shockingly showed that 26% of Americans still trust the media.
Harrelsons’ commencement speech began with remarks about the current political climate, and he characterized himself as a “redneck hippie.”
“You know, the red in me thinks you should be allowed to own guns,” he said. “The blue in me thinks – squirt guns. So, I’m red and blue which makes purple. I’m purple.”
With viewership numbers declining and the 2022 cast reduced, Kenan Thompson has voiced concerns that ‘SNL’ may soon be coming to an end.
He dramatically underlined his preference for smoking marijuana over drinking alcohol, going as far as to make a light-hearted joke about it.
“The reason I like herb more than alcohol is because it makes me feel good, no hangovers and I never wake up covered in blood,” he said.
Harrelson’s appearance was his fifth time hosting “SNL.” The show, like many other businesses, has strict COVID-related protocols in place due to the lockdowns that various governments have put into effect.
Later on in the show, Scarlett Johansson presented Harrelson with a special gift to commemorate his fifth appearance: A 5-Timers Club jacket.
Before the effects of the COVID pandemic enforced lockdowns, his last appearance on NBC’s comedy show occurred during Thanksgiving 2019.
