Taylor Swift’s on the scene yet again for her latest music video with Sugarland titled “Babe”. While we’ve often seen her portray a love-scorned ex or the leader of an all-female army in past videos, she’s now taking on a new type of role…the other woman. Heading back to the 1960’s (think Mad Men), the video finds Taylor Swift playing a secretary who has an affair with her married boss.
Who plays the man in question? Well, that would be Legends of Tomorrow’s Brandon Routh! Sugarland’s Jennifer Nettles plays Routh’s wife in the video.
Routh announced that he would be appearing in the video on Twitter ahead of this year’s CMT Awards where a trailer for the video was released.
THIS is why I had to cut my hair— to be more like #DonDraper. 😉

Swift had initially wrote the song to feature on her 2012 album Red, but when it didn’t make the final cut she passed it along to Sugarland who used it for their most recent album Bigger. Swift sings backup vocals on the song and actually played a huge role in coming up with the video idea.
“She actually reached out to us and said, ‘I’ve got a great idea for the video,’ and she wrote the treatment. We looked at it and said, ‘Oh my gosh, this is awesome,” Sugarland duo Jennifer Nettles and Kristian Bush told People.

Having studied Media & Writing at James Madison University, I always knew that I wanted to do some type of creative writing, but being able to write about zombies, Starks, and superheroes on a daily basis for Fan Fest is my actual dream. While I probably shouldn’t be as proud as I am to be so similar to Nick Miller, I do hope to one day write my own “Pepperwood Chronicles’.
