When Does ‘Lightyear’ Come Out? Theater and Disney+ Release Dates

Disney’s Pixar is releasing a new movie called Lightyear that will be in theaters soon. You can watch it on streaming services later.

Pixar is coming out with a new movie called Lightyear. It’s about the origin of Buzz Lightyear from Toy Story. The director, Angus MacLane, wanted to make a movie that paid tribute to the sci-fi movies he watched when he was a kid.

Chris Evans provides the voice for the main character. The other cast members include Keke Palmer, Peter Sohn, James Brolin, Taika Waititi, Dale Soules, Uzo Aduba, Mary McDonald-Lewis, Efren Ramirez and Isiah Whitlock Jr. in supporting roles.

The Toy Story movie is a blockbuster that the characters from the original movie watch. It is about a test pilot/astronaut that Buzz toy/action figure is based off of. Check out when and where you can watch it.

When does Lightyear come out in theaters?

The film will tell the story about how a young Buzz Lightyear, after being left behind on a hostile planet with his commander and crew, tries to find a way back home while also trying to save the Universe.

Lightyear‘s will be available in theaters in the United States on June 17, 2022. It will be available in RealD 3D, 4DX, Dolby Cinema, and IMAX formats. This will be Pixar’s first exclusive theatrical release since Onward in 2020.

When is Lightyear coming to Disney+?

Lightyear will be released in cinemas first, unlike Soul (2020), Luca (2021), and Turning Red (2022). Disney has not yet announced when the movie will come to its streaming service.

However, Lightyear will be available to stream between July 21st and August 3rd. There are two options for how long the film will be in theaters. The first option is a 30-day theatrical release window. The second option is a 45-day theatrical release window.
