So, what exactly is The Good Place? Well, I am glad you asked. ‘The Good Place’ is NBC’s version of Heaven or possibly Hell depending on your point of view. ‘The Good Place’ centers around Eleanor Shellstrop (Kristen Bell) who suddenly found herself on the “other side” after she died in a grocery store parking lot as she is pushed into the road and killed by a truck carrying a billboard advertising erectile dysfunction medication.

Eleanor is welcomed into The Good Place by Micheal (Ted Danson) who is the architect and the person in charge of The Good Place. He explains where she is, how she got there and why she is there. He brags on how her efforts as a lawyer to get innocent clients off death row as well as all of her humanitarian work around the world is why she had been accepted into the beautiful community. However, she knows the truth, this is not her life and she doesn’t belong in the Good Place at all.

Eleanor also meets some of her fellow Good Place neighbors including her “Soul-Mate” Chidi Anagonye (William Jackson Harper) who just happens to be a university ethics professor. She confides in Chidi that she does not actually belong in the Good Place however she convinces him to keep her secret and help her change and earn her place to stay in The Good Place.

The Good Place starts to crumble as Eleanor misplacement causes it to break down. Eleanor tries to change however her dislike of Tahani Al-Jamil (Jameela Jamil) who was a rich socialite who spent her life raising billions for charities but we learn for all the wrong reasons does put a kink in Eleanor’s efforts to change. We also learn Eleanor is not the only person who has been brought to the Good Place by mistake. Jianyu Li (Manny Jacinto) who is Tahani’s soul mate and a practicing Buddhist monk has some secrets himself.

‘The Good Place’ is the greatest place to “live” with your own personal assistant Janet (D’Arcy Carden), a frozen yogurt shop on every corner, you can drink as much as you want with no hangover and you cannot curse. Well ok, it is almost the greatest place…

Season one ended with a twist we did not see coming so if you have not watched ‘The Good Place’ you can binge watch it on Netflix or Hulu and be ready for the season 2 premiere on NBC September 20th.
