‘Watchmen’ Series Heading to HBO
It seems that a Watchmen series may be heading our way.
Variety reports that should the project come to fruition, it could find a home at HBO, with Damon Lindelof at the helm. There was a previous attempt to develop the comic into a series back in 2014, however, HBO did not move forward at the time.
Watchmen – which was created by Alan Moore and Dave Gibbons – centered on a group of crimefighters, including Rorschach, Silk Spectre, Nite Owl, The Comedian, Ozymandias, and Doctor Manhattan, who investigate the murder of one of their own, leading to dire consequences. A film version was released in 2009 directed by Zack Snyder and starring Jackie Earle Haley, Malin Akerman, Patrick Wilson, Jeffrey Dean Morgan, Matthew Goode, and Billy Crudup. Morgan would later make a cameo in another DC film, Batman v. Superman (also directed by Snyder) as Thomas Wayne. Wilson and Crudup are also set to star in the upcoming DC films Aquaman and The Flash; Wilson playing Arthur’s half brother, Orm, and Crudup playing Henry Allen.
Lindelof’s credits include LOST, Star Trek and its sequel, Star Trek Into Darkness, Prometheus, and the recently wrapped series The Leftovers.
HBO declined to comment on the project.
