In the horror genre, there lies a multitude of sub genres that play off of both rational and irrational fears. Some of those films are sort of predictable in a sense that they follow similar paths to ones before it. There’s nothing wrong with films that play off the classics or of basic human fears, but the ones that take some of those fears that regularly aren’t even that terrifying, and turn them into something else – those are the best ones.
So we were pleasantly surprised to see a new trailer for the film The Vault starring James Franco today. In fact, we’re pretty big fans of everything he does, and we anticipate that this film won’t be any different. The film starts off simply enough…it’s a bank robbery, but along the way, something evil is born, or at least – released.
Franco plays the bank manager who tells the robbers that the ‘real money’ is in a vault below before sending one of them to check it out. What’s found, however, isn’t riches at all – but a series of terrifying moments laced with a supernatural level of evil.
Oh, and did you hear that absolutely horrifying child laughter thrown in there? Yep, there will definitely be moments in this film that make you jump and watch the movie from the cracks between your fingers when you cover your eyes.
Are you looking forward to seeing The Vault? The film will be available this September.
