“What if we are here for a reason? What if we are a part of something truly divine? Imagine 91 billion light-years traveled…. like that!”
Chris Pine’s character Dr. Alex Murry says this line as he magically sets the vibe for the first ever released footage from the highly-anticipated upcoming film A Wrinkle in Time. The brand new, first ever footage debuted at Disney’s D23 Expo on Saturday.
Earlier this week, Entertainment Weekly unveiled the first images from the film and it looked absolutely stunning and breathtaking. The trailer certainly backs up that assessment. Check it out below:
A Wrinkle in Time is about an everyday, ordinary teenager named Meg (played by newcomer Storm Reid) who embarks on a magical adventure in an effort to find her missing government scientist father (played by Chris Pine). He went missing after beginning work on a mysterious project. Meg enlists the help of three celestial beings philosophizing Mrs. Who (played by Mindy Kaling), inquisitive Mrs. Whatsit (played by Reese Witherspoon), and wizened Mrs. Which (played by Oprah Winfrey) during her journey. They will need to help her “wrinkle” time and space in order to uncover the mystery of her missing father.
The just under 2-minute trailer is accompanied by a haunting version of the Eurythmics’ song Sweet Dreams and give us our first action look at the world which director Ava DuVernay has created. This is a teaser trailer done right. The clip builds suspense and makes us want to see more!
The upcoming film is based on a 1963 novel written by author Madeleine L’Engle. A Wrinkle in Time is the first of five novels in a series which is known as the Time Quintet. We can’t wait to see this film and hope some of the other novels from the series get brought to life on the big screen.
Mark your calendars because this is going to be a film you won’t want to miss! A Wrinkle in Time hits theaters on March 9, 2018.
