WATCH: Kit Harington Prepares to Battle a New King in the First Teaser Trailers for BBC One’s ‘Gunpowder’

“My wife is dead.  My name disgraced.  My friends and family, tortured and hanged.  We must strike at the root. Fawkes will light the fuse. And I, Robert Catesby will blow the King and all his men to hell!”

These ominous words are spoken by Robert Catesby (played by Kit Harington) throughout the first teaser trailer for the upcoming BBC One miniseries Gunpowder.  On Monday, the network dropped the first trailer for the upcoming miniseries and it looks intense!

Gunpowder will be a three part miniseries telling the story of a group of English Catholics who try to restore a Catholic to the crown by attempting to blow up the House of Lords and kill King James I.  While many believe that Guy Fawkes (played by Tom Cullen) was responsible for the plot, Harington plays Robert Catesby who is the actual mastermind behind the assassination attempt.  The miniseries will also star Liv Tyler as Anne Vaux (Catesby’s cousin), and Mark Gatiss as Robert Cecil (King James’ spy who is ordered to seek out and destroy anyone who is involved with that assassination plot).

Check out the captivating teaser trailers below:

This teaser alone is enough to draw us in and leave us wanting more! Gunpowder was written by Ronan Bennett and will be directed by J. Blakeson.  The miniseries will also star Peter Mullan, Edward Holcroft, and Shaun Dooley.

We don’t have a premiere date just yet but, according to the teaser, Gunpowder is “coming soon!” We can’t wait!
