WATCH: John Cena Brings a Beloved Storybook Character to Life in Animated Trailer for ‘Ferdinand’

Newly engaged WWE superstar John Cena is grabbing the bull by the horns, so to speak, by lending his voice to the upcoming animated film Ferdinand.

The film is based on the 1936 classic children’s book The Story of Ferdinand written by Munro Leaf and illustrated by Robert Lawson.  The story tells a tale of a warm-hearted and happy bull who would rather lay in the sun and smell flowers rather than partake in bull fights despite being the biggest and strongest of his herd.

While Kate McKinnon, Daveed Diggs, Gina Rodriguez, Anthony Anderson and others are also lending their vocal talents to the film, Cena has clearly indicated that he strongly identified with this role.  Cena told Today,

“He’s a peaceful bull. People think he’s a fighter because he’s a big bull. Sound familiar?”

After watching the trailer, it’s hard not to fall in love with Ferdinand.  Check it out!
