Thank Odin, only one month until Vikings returns for the sixth and final season in a two-hour premiere on December 4 at 9 PM ET/PT!
Last season, Ivar (Alex Høgh Andersen) claimed to be a god and ruled the people of Kattegat through fear and terror. Even his wife grew to fear and hate him. With the help of King Harald (Peter Franzén), his brother Hvitserk (Marco Ilsø), and King Olaf (Steven Berkoff), Bjorn (Alexander Ludwig) won back Kattegat. It was not an easy fight, as many Viking blood spilled over the battle of brothers. In season 5 finale, Ubbe (Jordan Patrick Smith), Torvi (Georgia Hirst), and Lagertha (Katheryn Winnick) reunite with the rightful King. Meanwhile, Ivar manages to escape quickly.
The final season will have twenty episodes with ten episodes airing first and the second half returning in 2020. While we dread the end of the Lothbrok saga, the creator and writer, Michael Hirst has said,
“I always knew how ‘Vikings’ would end and, after 89 episodes, I truly believe the saga of Ragnar Lothbrok and his sons has been told and we are leaving our beloved fans with the proper and definitive ending they so deserve.”
This season, we will see how Bjorn rules Kattegat and if he can live up to his father’s legacy. We also find out what becomes of Ivar as he grapples with his defeat and plots his revenge. Amid the continued turmoil, it will be interesting to learn if Lagertha has found pease in her later years. While, one question remains unanswered from last season, and that is whether or not Floki (Gustaf Skarsgård) survived the cave.
There are plenty more battles and conflict to be dealt with this last season, and we can’t wait!
