‘Vikings’: Feast Your Eyes on Some Newly Released Season 5 Images

'Vikings': Feast Your Eyes on Some Newly Released Season 5 ImagesWaiting for the next season of the Vikings is almost as torturous as trying to get answers out of the show’s infuriating Seer. Season 4 was a rollercoaster of emotions ranging from the grief of losing some major players to reveling in delight for the payback that followed those losses. The legendary Lothbrok family were left without a true leader and there was much turmoil amongst the brothers. Not to mention the looming foreshadowing of a new and formidable foe with the introduction of Bishop Heahmund played by Jonathan Rhys Meyers.

We were unsure about how they would go forward after losing a brilliant character like Ragnar Lothbrok played expertly by Travis Fimmel, but the Lothbrok sons played by some wonderful actors and the other complex characters put those worries to rest. The storytelling that followed Ragnar’s epic death has us invested in the future of his sons and the people he left behind. They are either searching to find some meaning in their lives or attempting to carve out a name for themselves. While we patiently wait for new season, a tiny glimpse of what’s in store for us was just released with these new images.

Vikings Season 5

When we left last season Bjorn Ironside (Alexander Ludwig) was headed to the Mediterranean to conquer new lands. Much like his late father, Ragnar Lothbrok, he yearned to see more lands and adventure. We are thrilled to see how much of his father is in him when it comes to his thirst for the unknown and his ability to lead an army of his own. From the picture, you can see that he is in unchartered territories surrounded by a desert landscape that is sure to bring some challenges for the Vikings, who are more familiar with being near water. In order to capture the images of Bjorn’s new adventures in the Sahara desert, the production crew traveled to Morocco. Hopefully, there will be some moments with him and his brothers in the season, but the way things were left at the end of season 4, we aren’t so sure how much brotherly love remains among the Lothbrok sons.

While Bjorn inherited Ragnar’s sense of adventure, Ivar seems to have taken on his taste for vengeance and an astute mindset. Alex Høgh Andersen who plays Ivar the Boneless remained in England and was fixated on dominating the English. Ivar has his sights on York, but we have a feeling taking it over will not be so easy. Bishop Heahmund doesn’t seem like the kind of guy to hand over anything without a fight. We are eagerly anticipating how these two characters will interact as they both appear to be strong adversaries and a great match that will give fans some epic battles. Ivar’s fearlessness and shrewd thinking is a fantastic match to Bishop Heahmund warrior-like mentality. Will these two strong-minded individuals develop a similar relationship to Ragnar and King Ecbert (Linus Roache) who eventually grew to have mutual respect for each other?

Of course, we can’t forget about some of our other amazing cast and characters such as Lagertha (Katheryn Winnick), Floki (Gustaf Skarsgård), and Rollo (Clive Standen). Their fates are equally up in the air as we come into the new season. Vikings is slated to appear at San Diego Comic-Con (SDCC) next week and hopefully, they will provide us with a few more juicy details of the upcoming season especially the premiere date! While we have lost so many great characters in season 4, these images are getting us revved up for the next chapter in their saga! If you are lucky enough to attend SDCC check our their panel on Friday, July 21.
