Viewers Slam 2022 Emmys for Leaving Out Olivia Newton-John from ‘In Memoriam’
John Legend gave an emotional performance of his new song, “Pieces” at the 74th Primetime Emmy Awards In Memoriam segment. well-known television personalities such as Betty White, Anne Heche, Sidney Poitier, Ray Liotta, Michael Nesmith, Bob Saget and Nichelle Nichols were remembered with tributes played during Legend’s performance; however, Olivia Newton John was noticeably absent from the lineup.
Newton-John passed away on August 8, following a three-decade journey with breast cancer. Although she was most popular for her top songs in the 1970s and 1980s, like “I Honestly Love You,” “Let Me Be There,” “If You Love Me (Let Me Know),” and “Physical.” she also acted in 1978’s musical Grease with John Travolta as well as the 1980 film Xanadu. Both films had highly successful soundtrack albums.
Although she was never nominated for an Emmy, Newton-John made dozens of television appearances throughout her life, including Australian series The Man from Snowy River and Glee. She also had guest appearances on Murphy Brown, Tracey Takes On…, Bette, Kathy Griffin: My Life on the D-List, and Ned and Stacey.Although she was not mentioned in the broadcasted Emmys In Memoriam page, Newton-John is included online.

Newton-John wasn’t the only celebrity missed
Deadline reports that many other stars were not mentioned on the broadcast. These include Beverly Hills, 90210 actors Denise Dowse and Joe E. Tata, as well as Patt Carroll, Mary Alice, Taurean Blacque, Larry Storch, Lenny Von Dohlen, Maggie Peterson, Charles Siebert, Philip Baker Hall David Birney and Scoey Mitchell.

Television Academy, why no tribute to Olivia Newton-John for the Emmys in 2022? She was successful in TV specials, movies, and episodes of shows. So why not pay respects to this lovely and loving woman?
Newton-John Even Won an Emmy!
Newton-John’s fans were even more shocked because she did television work. Although she was never nominated for a Primetime Emmy, in 1999 she won a Daytime Emmy for “This Is Our Moment,” a song featured in As The World Turns.
