Vanna White shows no signs of slowing down even after Pat Sajak’s retirement announcement from “Wheel of Fortune.”
According to reports, Vanna White, the long-time co-host has expressed her intention to continue her role on the beloved game show, Wheel of Fortune, but with one condition – a pay raise.
People magazine reports that the 66-year-old White is currently in negotiations to renew her contract as a co-host of “Wheel of Fortune.”
Having worked alongside Sajak, 76, for over four decades, White has requested an increase in her salary for the new deal. It is worth noting that White’s last pay raise occurred nearly 20 years ago, with her current annual earnings reportedly at $3 million, while Sajak earns five times that amount, as stated by People via Puck.
Back in 2016, Forbes reported that Sajak made $15 million per year from his work on “Wheel of Fortune.”
Entertainment Weekly reports that White has yet to reach an agreement with the game show regarding her contract.
White has been turning letters on “Wheel of Fortune” since 1982 and even took on hosting duties temporarily when Sajak underwent emergency surgery in 2019. During that time, Sajak’s daughter, Maggie Sajak, filled in for White and later became a social media correspondent for the show in 2021.
Earlier this month, Sajak announced his departure from “Wheel of Fortune” after a remarkable 40-year run. In a tweet, Sajak stated that his upcoming 41st season would be his last, expressing gratitude and mentioning that he will share more details in the coming months.
The search for Sajak’s replacement has begun, and Ryan Seacrest’s name has reportedly been brought up among several individuals being considered by Sony Group Corp., the owner of “Wheel of Fortune.” Seacrest recently left his co-hosting position on “Live! with Kelly and Ryan” in April, making his schedule more available.
Representatives for Vanna White and Sony Pictures Television have not responded to a request for comment.
