Vanessa Lachey to Round Out the First Wives Club

The classic 1996 comedy, The Frist Wives Club, gave us a group of women who found strength and support in each other’s friendship. The comedy was spot on and the women kicked butt! Sorry to the fellas, but Goldie Hawn (Elise Elliot), Bette Midler (Brenda Cushman), and Diane Keaton (Annie Paradis) totally gave them what they deserved.

TV Land is now looking to bring characters based on the movie to us on a weekly basis.  Their new comedy pilot stars Megan Hilty (Smash) and Alyson Hannigan (How I Met Your Mother), who were already on the roster for two of the three lead roles.  Yesterday, it was announced that Vanessa Lachey (The Dads and Truth Be Told) has joined the cast as the third lead.  The story is centered around these three friends who reconnect after the death of a fourth college friend.

If it’s anything like the original, there is sure to be lots of comedy with these ladies finding themselves in some precarious situations.  Remember the fire escape scene with Hawn, Midler, and Keaton? Although the ages of their characters are younger and the location takes place in San Francisco, I have high hopes for these ladies. With Hilty’s musical background, could a musical number also be included? I mean who didn’t love “You Don’t Own Me” at the end of the movie!
