The best part about being a part of the Fast and Furious family is that there is always another movie in the works! The ninth installment of the franchise may still be up in the air, but Hobbs and Shaw, the spinoff starring Dwayne Johnson and Jason Statham is very much moving forward and adding a new actress to their ranks as The Crown’s Vanessa Kirby (Princess Margaret) is close to signing on to star.
Hobbs and Shaw will find Johnson’s US Diplomatic Security Agent Luke Hobbs forming an unlikely partnership with franchise notorious bad guy Deckard Shaw (Statham). The two characters were one of the most entertaining parts from the eighth movie, The Fate of The Furious and we are very much looking forward to the action stars bringing their banter and ridiculousness to their own film.
We aren’t the only ones excited about the film, though. Johnson took to Instagram early last month to express just how much he is looking forward to film, teasing a sun and sharp script and surprising cast announcements still to come!

David Leitch (Deadpool 2) will be directing a script from one of the franchise’s best, Chris Morgan. Neal H. Moritz is producing alongside Johnson, Statham and more. Kirby will soon be appearing with Tom Cruise in another never-ending franchise when Mission: Impossible — Fallout hits theaters on July 26th. Hobbs and Shaw will be racing into theaters on July 26, 2019.

Having studied Media & Writing at James Madison University, I always knew that I wanted to do some type of creative writing, but being able to write about zombies, Starks, and superheroes on a daily basis for Fan Fest is my actual dream. While I probably shouldn’t be as proud as I am to be so similar to Nick Miller, I do hope to one day write my own “Pepperwood Chronicles’.
