‘Top Gun: Maverick’ Becomes One Of the Biggest Domestic Successes Of All Time

Following a long delay, the highly anticipated sequel Top Gun: Maverick has now debuted in theaters.

With a very successful theatrical run, Top Gun: Maverick has entered the top 10 highest-grossing films of all time at the domestic box office.

According to Box Office Mojo, Top Gun: Maverick has now earned more than $622 million in revenues at the domestic box office. The film moved down ten places to take the tenth position when it knocked Star Wars: Episode VIII – The Last Jedi out of the top echelon of the charts.

'Top Gun: Maverick' Flies Past $1B At Worldwide Box Office

The film could have increased even higher if the budget had been greater. It is still a long way from reaching the top spot, however. Currently, the most successful domestic box office film has been Star Wars: Episode VII – The Force Awakens, which has earned more than $936 million back in 2015.

The success of Top Gun: Maverick has been multi-layered, as the film has become Paramount Pictures’ highest-earning picture ever, thanks to its huge worldwide box office appeal. Globally, Top Gun: Maverick has earned more than $1.2 billion, placing it at the 20th spot in cinematic history. Between these position and the top, there are plenty of iconic films including Titanic at number three and James Cameron’s Sci-Fi epic Avatar at the top spot drawing in a whopping $2.8 billion dollars.

If you haven’t yet gotten a chance to see Top Gun: Maverick, the film is still playing in many cinemas across the world, so there’s still time.
