Tom Cruise Addresses Speculation of His Potential Iron Man Role in Marvel Studios Production

When Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness was released minus Tom Cruise as a different universe incarnation of Iron Man, fans were left disheartened that these theories about his introduction to Marvel Cinematic Universe never came true. However, even though we have moved into Phase 5 of MCU, whispers regarding Cruise’s portrayal of Iron Man are still afloat.

Tom Cruise recently put an end to the rumors by speaking directly with his fans. In a recent interview, he was asked if he almost got chosen as Iron Man instead of Robert Downey Jr., and whether or not he would ever want to play a superhero. “I’m nowhere near close,” said Cruise cheerfully,” I really admire Robert Downey Jr., no one else could have done this role better than him”.

Going on to say, “I look at a movie and think, you know, I don’t rule anything out, it’s what’s the story? What’s the character? Does it interest me? Do I feel this is what an audience would like to see me in? What can I learn? What can I contribute? That’s really how I look at things.”
