Tom Brady and Gisele Bündchen’s Marital Issues Reportedly Have ‘Nothing To Do’ with Football

‘The issues (between Tom Brady and Gisele Bündchen) are not caused by his decision to play football again — at times, issues are complicated,” a source close to the couple told Page Six, which was the first to report that Bündchen, 42, and Brady, 45, were having difficulties after she left the country and stayed in Costa Rica. It was said at the time that Brady’s decision to retire from the NFL was behind their problems.

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers quarterback was hoping that Bündchen would attend the team’s first home game of the season on Sunday, but she didn’t show up. The model was reported to be in New York City working on a few projects and fashion shoots instead. Although Bündchen wasn’t there, the children — Jack, 15, Benjamin, 12, Vivian, 9, saw their father face Aaron Rodgers and the Green Bay Packers from where they were sitting.

Recently, Bündchen spoke to Elle about Brady’s future. I have concerns because football is a very violent sport,” she says. “I would like him to be more present for his children. But ultimately, I feel that everybody has to make a decision that works for [them]. He needs to follow his joy.”

After staying home to take care of the kids while her husband played football, Bündchen said she wanted to do more in her career. “I’ve done my part, which is [to] be there for [Tom]. I moved to Boston, and I focused on creating a cocoon and a loving environment for my children to grow up in and to be there supporting him and his dreams,” she said. “Seeing my children succeed and become the beautiful little humans that they are, seeing him succeed, and being fulfilled in his career—it makes me happy.”
