The Joker origin movie is taking shape more and more, now that the production will start in September, more cast members should make their way on the list next to Joaquin Phoenix. DC Comics is slowly making a big comeback in the movie industry with their DC Dark era they’re opening, so that more DC Comic related movies will get created with a smaller budget but more artistic freedom.
Other than the storyline that will be based on Alan Moore’s The Killing Joke, nothing else was announced about the movie, except for Joaquin Phoenix’ role as the Joker. Todd Phillips however, is working very hard to put a great movie together. Cinemablend reports that they currently are trying to cast the Joker’s mother and Todd Phillips is looking at Oscar winner Frances McDormand, although there is a chance that she may have said no to the role.
The source that said this is a reporter from The Wrap, who tweeted that Frances McDormand passed on the role of Joker’s mother. Even though if actors want to join a superhero and villain movie, it’s the time to do so with the amount of DC Comic movies that are about to start production. Sadly, we don’t think it’s going to be Frances McDormand (Three Billboards).
Frances McDormand might have said no to this role; I’m sure that Todd Phillips knows what he’s doing and is looking for a big name to star right next to Joaquin Phoenix.
The nameless Joker origin movie will start production in September. No further dates got announced as to when the film will hit the theaters.
Who do you think will be a great addition to the cast as the Joker’s mother? Let us know in the comments below.
