Titans Together!: DC Comics Launching Streaming Service With Titans and Young Justice Revival

Christmas has just arrived a whopping eight months early, with the unveiling of a new streaming service from DC Comics. DC Entertainment and Warner Bros. Television are gearing up for a spectacular 2018 by launching a digital streaming service, à la Netflix, that will bolster a catalogue and experience “designed just for DC fans.” They’ve already spoiled the surprise (not that we’re complaining!) and revealed fan-favourite series, Young Justice will be returning for a third instalment, currently titled Young Justice: Outsiders, exclusively on the streaming service. Perhaps just as exciting is the fact that we finally have a synopsis to fuel our hopes and dreams:

“In ‘Young Justice: Outsiders,’ the teenage Super Heroes of the DC Universe come of age in an animated world of super-powers, Super-Villains and super secrets. In the highly anticipated new season, the team faces its greatest challenge yet as it takes on meta-human trafficking and the terrifying threat it creates for a society caught in the crossfire of a genetic arms race spanning the globe and the galaxy…”

Additionally, Titans, a Teen Titans-based series originally picked up by TNT, and formerly thought to be stuck in development limbo, has found new legs aboard the streaming service. Geoff Johns (DC Entertainment’s President, Chief Creative Officer, and a stellar writer besides), Greg Berlanti (Arrow), and Akiva Goldsman (Star Trek: Discovery) will be serving as writers and executive producers for Titans, along with Supergirl EP Sarah Schechter. The synopsis for Titans also sounds like the fan dreamboat we’ve deserved all along:

“‘Titans’ follows a group of young soon-to-be Super Heroes recruited from every corner of the DC Universe. In this action-packed series, Dick Grayson emerges from the shadows to become the leader of a fearless band of new heroes, including Starfire, Raven and many others. ‘Titans’ is a dramatic, live-action adventure series that will explore and celebrate one of the most popular comic book teams ever.”

With flagship DC television properties like Arrow and The Flash still beholden to their Netflix contracts, it’s unlikely they’ll be joining the exclusive streaming line-up anytime soon. What other characters or adaptations do you think would shine on the streaming service? Let us know in the comments!
