Hello there, fellow nerds! Happy ‘Throwback Thursday’ to everyone!
While cleaning out my cabinets at home, I stumbled upon some VHS tapes. Yes, I said it VHS tapes. Immediately I began recalling memories of my childhood where my brother and I would watch endless Disney movies on end. The magic never seemed to stop!
While the pile of VHS tapes did not contain a Disney movie, it did contain a different form of Gold – Chitty Chitty Bang Bang. So, of course, I immediately ran into the basement and plugged in the VHS player and began watching the movie. I instantly was reminded about why I loved this film so much as a kid!
Filmed in the 1960’s, the movie itself takes place in the year 1910. After acquiring the former race car after it crashed and burned during its final lap of the race, it winds up in the care of the Potts family. After being polished up and taken out for a ride, the car starts emitting strange noises from its engine… giving it the name ‘Chitty Chitty Bang Bang’.
I won’t give away the full details of the plot – it is just something you absolutely have to watch! If you’re looking for a classic, family fun film about a magical flying (and floatable) car in an adventure land full of kings, queens and ‘sweets’, then this film is for you!
Starring Dick Van Dyke and Sally Ann Howes, this is movie is truly a classic!
For those of you who have seen this film before, how can you resist singing to this catchy song!?
