These past few years our televisions have been blessed with Sterling K. Brown. From his Emmy-Award winning role as Christopher Darden on American Crime Story to his follow up (and also) Emmy-Award winning role as Randall Pearson on This Is Us, Brown has become a small screen treasure.FX
Of course, Brown has always had a presence on the big screen. With roles in Whiskey Tango Foxtrot, Black Panther and the upcoming Hotel Artemis and Predator he’s shown just how adaptable he is, but now he’s stepping into the role of my dreams – a musical!
Brown, Lucas Hedges (Manchester by the Sea), Kelvin Harrison Jr. (Birth of a Nation) and Taylor Russell (Lost in Space) have just been cast in a new musical drama titled Waves. According to The Hollywood Reporter, Waves is “a coming-of-age tale that tells two contrasting teen love stories, focusing on both suburban teenagers and their parents.”
The film will be written and directed by Trey Edward Shults who is known for his work on It Comes By Night and the score will be written by Trent Reznor and Atticus Ross. Filming is set to begin shortly in Florida but there is no release date set yet. In the meantime, fans can catch Brown in the upcoming third season of This Is Us on NBC this fall as well as the upcoming films The Rhythm Section and Angry Birds 2.
Are you excited about Brown’s new role? We can’t wait to hear him serenading us on the big screen!
Having studied Media & Writing at James Madison University, I always knew that I wanted to do some type of creative writing, but being able to write about zombies, Starks, and superheroes on a daily basis for Fan Fest is my actual dream. While I probably shouldn’t be as proud as I am to be so similar to Nick Miller, I do hope to one day write my own “Pepperwood Chronicles’.
