The Walking Dead is already gearing up for season 8, it’s big 100th episode, and a wicked storyline after the season 7 finale. The characters we’ve grown to love were at their lowest and – in some ways – highest points during the last season and when the series returns, there will be a lot of ground to cover.
Rick’s group was betrayed in the midst of a raging war and, with the help of their friends, the battle was not lost. In some ways, it was won. While Negan’s reign of terror still exists – and will continue to for some time – the morale of Rick’s group was at an all time high. Plus, that whole Shiva attack, well that helped too. The war is still being waged, and while that’s the focus of the series as of now, TWD is introducing two new characters who will play prominent roles in season 8.
TV Line reported that these two new characters will be good guys and that one of them will be a ‘less jerky Spencer’.
‘Ahead of Season 8’s Saviors/Scavengers-vs.-Alexandria/Hilltop/Kingdom war, AMC’s monster smash is casting two new recurring good guys: Dillon, a sexy, blue-collar twentysomething whose survival skills include sarcasm, and Abbud, an innately likable Muslim American whose nerves are, let’s say, jangled, because he’s flown solo for too long in zombieland. Of the pair, the former is likelier to survive the looming conflict — not only does Dillon sound like a less jerky Spencer, but the casting notice for the roles hints that the actor chosen might get picked up for subsequent seasons.‘
Not only will Dillon and Abbud make a splash in season 8, as said above, it’s likely that Dillon will survive past the war. It’s sort of against the best interest of everyone who watches TWD to get attached to new characters because the attachments we already have are hard enough to juggle – but as fans of TWD, we’re all sort of masochists, right?
That being said, we’re sure these new characters will make their way into our hearts and we can’t wait to see what they bring to the table.
