‘The Walking Dead’ Star Jeffrey Dean Morgan Asks Fans to Respect His Family’s Privacy

Without a doubt, The Walking Dead is known for having one of the coolest fandoms around filled with kind, passionate and generous people of all ages and all walks of life. Lately, however, series star Jeffrey Dean Morgan has been having a little bit of a problem with some fans stepping over the line and failing to respect the privacy of his family’s home residence.

On Tuesday, Morgan took to Twitter to deliver a clear but stern message to some fans who have been overstepping some boundaries and actually visiting the actor’s private home. Morgan tweeted, “Dear people that think it’s a solid plan to come to our house, take pictures, drive up to house, knock on door… it’s not a good plan. It’s rude and creepy. Respect our privacy please. And… you’re being recorded.”

It’s almost too crazy to believe that any actor would even need to post a statement like this. While many of today’s stars make themselves available to the public through conventions and meet and greets, it’s important to remember that privacy is precious, particularly so for those who spend much of their time in the public eye.

Of course, Morgan’s post wasn’t all seriousness. Sons of Anarchy and Outsiders actor Ryan Hurst joked that it was actually him that Morgan was tweeting about, and as a punishment, he was being locked in Morgan’s basement. Hurst’s response has over 2,000 likes.

In addition’s to Hurst’s playing response, other fans responded with their favorite Negan gif and expressed their concern over Morgan’s unwelcomed visitors. Just remember, the first rule of any fandom is to have respect for whatever or whoever it is that you love. Without respect first, there is no such thing a fandom. Hopefully thanks to Morgan’s Twitter post, the overzealous fans will get the message.

Up next, Morgan will be attending San Diego Comic-Con with the rest of the cast of The Walking Dead. Fans are expecting to get some big news and perhaps a new trailer during the show’s Hall H panel. The Walking Dead will return to AMC for its ninth season this fall.
