Andrew Lincoln confirmed in July that the 9th season of The Walking Dead will be his last.
This has shook the core of his fans. Now, everybody is coming to terms with it a bit more, and AMC has even started advertising it as Rick Grimes’ final season.

With the show continuing with Angela Kang showrunner, the pressure falls on her and her team to give Andrew a fitting farewell episode.
In a recent interview, Kang expressed how difficult writing Rick’s departure was for pretty much everyone involved saying,
“The writers, and everybody, the crew, the actors, everybody’s just putting their all into it because we love him so much and we respect him so much, and we want to do service to that journey.”
Yet and still, two questions are heavy on the minds of his fans as has been witnessed since he made his departure from the sequel public knowledge.
First, the audience is concerned about the quality of the final episode in terms of its creativity, believability, satisfaction radar etc. Albeit there being a lack of confidence in the previous showrunner, Scott Gimple, fans are expectant and anxious to see what they come up with.
Second and most crucially, fans are wondering if the sequel can survive this huge blow to their production considering Andrew has been on since its inception. That’s like taking away the main character of a plot. Reflect on that while we wait with bated breath for the product of The Walking Dead 9: Season Finale.
What do you think they’re going to do with his final episodes? Do you have any hopes for how we’ll see Rick Grimes off, one last time?
Season 9 of The Walking Dead premieres on October 7th, 2018.
